At Love 2 learn we offer FUN play based Literacy and Numeracy programs. We work at all levels, and encourage peer coaching, so that older kids develop a sense of responsibility for their younger siblings or friends. We use fun interactive games and activities and work at your child’s level, That Reinforce the learning he/she is getting at school.
Whether he or she needs to catch up, develop confidence or just support the school curriculum. In a fun group environment, surrounded by new and interesting people, children become genuinely interested in discussing and working through basic numeracy and literacy skills, often finding the answer through debate and discussion with leaders or peers.
The best thing about this club is that our games create a fun learning environment where kids can play games without realising they are learning!
At love 2 learn, we emphasis, that no question is ‘stupid’, everything we do is focused around basic numeracy and literacy skills but is fun based, children learn through various games and activities, and leave having had a positive learning experience, some comments from parents just this week have been “my child now says she loves doing maths, something she dreaded doing” “my child was afraid to get the answer wrong, now she isn’t afraid to try, even if she doesn’t get right, she is trying, she just gave up before”
We spend a lot of time building up confidence and self esteem, encouraging children to speak up without fear, hopefully this will transfer to the class room and children will not be afraid to ask the question, even when their answer maybe wrong.
This is not a tuition service; this is a ‘Mol an Oige’ programme’ based on the model of Saint Don Bosco, who taught ‘praise the youth and they will blossom’.
Derry Search Youth group recognise that when Children fall behind in primary school, it has a huge negative impact on their self esteem and future choices. In an attempt to overcome this barrier the ‘Love 2 Learn Club’, has been set up to support children aged 6 – 10 who are lacking educational confidence or have difficulties with basic literacy or numeracy skills.
At The ‘Love 2 Learn’ Club we focus on:• Rebuilding self-esteem & confidence in academic ability.• Helping children catch up on basic numeracy & literacy skills.
